Goldendale Community Library sits in the heart of the Klickitat Valley, and has served this close-knit community since the building was first raised with a Carnegie grant more than a century ago. Thoughtfully renovated to blend that history with modern amenities, today’s library offers public computers, meeting and study rooms, an art gallery, and a full calendar of programming — from family storytimes and early-learner activities to adult book groups and a lively teen hangout.
And, the Klickitat County Bookmobile is a critical resource for our rural residents engaging them with new materials and internet access in remote locations.
As the region’s public library serving Klickitat Valley residents of every age, Goldendale Community Library is a genuine local landmark. Friends of Goldendale Community Library helps keep it thriving, raising funds through book sales and community events that support new materials, programs, and the library’s continued role as a true town gathering place.

Every summer we host an ice cream social for the community to get to know the library, and each other. We often feature local musicians and encourage everyone to bring blankets and chairs to hang out!

The Dick Wilson bookshelf is located on the basement floor at the bottom of the main staircase. It’s available all regular library business hours.
The Basement Bookstore is open Tuesday through Thursday, 10am-5pm, and on the 2nd Saturday of each month, 10am-2pm.

Friends of Goldendale Community Library meetings are open to anyone who cares about our library. Check the FVRL (insert link) events calendar for our next meeting date, time, and location — we’d love to see you there.

Friends of Goldendale Community Library raises money that goes directly back into Goldendale Community Library, funding the extras that the library district’s budget can’t always cover. Recent and ongoing support includes:
Friends of Goldendale Community Library is an all-volunteer nonprofit made up of neighbors who care about Goldendale Community Library and want to see it thrive. Our board and members are local residents — book lovers, retirees, parents, and longtime patrons — who volunteer their time to raise funds, staff our bookstore, and advocate for the library’s needs.
We’re proud to be part of something bigger: a Friends of the Library group supports every one of Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries’ branches, from Woodland, Clark County and all the way out to the Columbia Gorge. Through the FVRL Foundation, our group connects with Friends from other branches — meeting together regularly to share ideas, celebrate successes, and support one another — because when one branch’s Friends group succeeds, the whole FVRL community benefits.
Friends of Goldendale Community Library operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit under the umbrella of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation (Federal Tax ID 91-1456753), which handles our federal and state nonprofit filing and financial reporting on our behalf. This lets our all-volunteer board focus on serving Goldendale Community Library rather than nonprofit paperwork. Donations to Friends of Goldendale Community Library are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
